It costs nothing to say something kind. Even less to shut up altogether.
-- Nathan Fillion -
MEN WALK ON THE MOON. To me, this speaks of a time when America wasn't just about the almighty buck. The Russians had put up Sputnik, and the U.S. would not be outdone. I admire that about the American spirit. There's only one spot in history for the first ever of anything.

-- Nathan Fillion -
Whatever our bedtime was as kids, we could stay up an extra half hour if we were reading. My parents didn't care as long as I was under the spell of a Stephen King or a Douglas Adams. Now I read in bed. I read at work. I read standing in line. It's like, 'Hello, my name is Nathan and I am a reader.'
-- Nathan Fillion -
I tried my hand at writing, I tried to write out a little script - and it's not too bad. Mostly, though, it let me understand how incredibly difficult that job is. I can't even imagine doing it on a weekly basis for a series in any way. That's tough. I think I'll try to leave that to smarter people than me.
-- Nathan Fillion -
People keep inviting me back. It's nice to work with the same people when you've had a good time previously, and this is one of those cases.
-- Nathan Fillion -
I think people imagine that I have about five scripts sitting in front of me and I say, 'I think I'm going to go with the super hero thing and after that I'll wrap it up with some more sci-fi and then do a romantic comedy.' But it doesn't quite work out that way.
-- Nathan Fillion -
With scheduling and the way projects come up, I take the first thing that interests me and that moves me. If it's going to be fun, if I'm going to have a good time, and I'm going to enjoy the people I'm with, then that's a good enough reason to do it.
-- Nathan Fillion -
I enjoy the art, and I enjoy drawing. I think my printing to this day looks like the printing right out of a comic book.
-- Nathan Fillion -
I think it's a dance that people want to see. It's a chemistry that people want to see. In the same way that people don't want to see a perfect hero with no flaws who can handle anything, people don't want to see a perfect relationship. There's nothing interesting about that. People want to see you fail.
-- Nathan Fillion -
When you slick back your hair, you get a really good idea of just how melon-like your head actually is.
-- Nathan Fillion -

I realized, dumb people don't know they're dumb. When people try to make me laugh and they try to be funny, that's when they lose me. I find a lot of comedy in honesty.
-- Nathan Fillion -
When you work on a soap opera, that's three years of you working every day. There was no time to do anything other than the soap opera - you're locked in.
-- Nathan Fillion -
I slowly came to realize that this job of being an actor, you spend most of your time looking for work. That is your job. Your job is auditioning. You spend very little of your time actually working.
-- Nathan Fillion -
My mother always tells me, 'Nathan, you're very much a geek, but your strength is that you look mainstream. So no one can tell just by looking at you.' I think this is true.
-- Nathan Fillion -
I always wanted to be an actor, but in Edmonton, Alberta, that's not a success-oriented career. So I said, 'I'll get my (teaching) degree and then I'll see what happens, but I'll always have that to fall back on.' So if anybody were to look at me and say, 'Oh, you're an actor,' I could always say, 'Hey man, I'm a teacher!'
-- Nathan Fillion -
I have a cat. I'm not a cat-person, but she came with the house that I'm renting. I don't know how many hundreds of dollars worth of bump removals, teeth removals, cleanings and vet fees I've been through since then. But of course I love her and she's worth it.
-- Nathan Fillion -
I love doing 'Castle.' We pump out 24 episodes in 10 months, and we work long hours. We do lots and lots of takes, and everyone there is a talent machine. It is a taxing endeavour to say the least, but when you get into a groove, it doesn't matter if you're tired, it doesn't matter if you're sick. You can do it.
-- Nathan Fillion -
I love when a TV show, or entertainment in general, makes me feel something; be it positive, be it negative, be it happiness, be it awkward, uncomfortable if it can make me feel, it's done it's job.

I'm fortunate enough that every job I do seems to be, at the very least, teaching me something fantastic. I make new friends. I work with talented people. I was going to be a High School teacher. I was studying at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, up in Canada. I was also acting in a wonderfully supportive theatre community in Edmonton. There's a lot of support for theatre there. Acting over there is just not a success-oriented career.
